A Brief History of Hinton Football Club
Hinton was founded in 1957 and has a long and proud history, in 1985-1986 the Club applied to join the Mid Herts League.
Its here we enjoyed many successful seasons, capping our success when the first Xl were crowned the Premier Division Champions in the 2001/2 Season.
In the 2002/3 season Hinton stepped up from junior to senior football when we were elected to the Herts Senior County League, which sits at step 7 (or level 11 of the National League System) so is classified as ‘Senior level club’ which presents us with potential to rise to the top of the football pyramid.
Hintons’ First Xl were Division 1 runners up in their first season, missing out on the Division 1 title on the last day of the season by only one point. Their Reserves were crowned Champions of Reserve Division 2 and in the same season were also promoted at their first attempt .
In our first season within the Premier Division of the County league the first Xl achieved 4th place and won the Aubrey Cup 3 – 1 (after extra time) in a thrilling final against Whitewebbs FC at Ware FC.
The 2010/11 season saw Hinton crowned Premier League Champions the, highest honour in the clubs 50 year history and achieving our highest position in the football pyramid. In a season that saw us playing catch up to Letchworth GC Eagles, Hinton enjoyed a great run in winning 8 of our last 9 games with two well fought victories against Letchworth Garden City Eagles to win the league by 3 points.
It is the ambition of the officers of the Club and all those involved, to run at the highest possible professional standards with the aspiration to raise Hinton FC to the highest achievable levels.
